Tab 2 7.0 no longer updating apps. How can I get it to do so again?

Tab 2 7.0 no longer updating apps.

No error messages - just runs in the download phase forever. Never gets to the install phase.
Plenty of space available (1.5Gb+).
performs email type options perfectly.
Android version 4.2.2
I have rebooted, disconnected from WiFi and reconnected with no results. I have even uninstalled more apps to get more space.
I have turned a few apps off in an attempt to get back space.

Any chance I turned off the wrong app/process?? How do I find it and correct it?

Welcome to Android Central! Does this happen on both wi-fi and mobile data?


Try going to the App Manager, select Google Play Store, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Do the same for Download Manager. Now try again.


If that doesn't work, try going to Settings>Accounts-Google, select your Google account, and remove it completely from the phone. Then add it back again, and see if that helps.
