I have been experiencing my Tab 2 getting slower and slower. My S4 just got Lollipop and is running great. AT&T says Jellybean 4.1.2 is the mosy up to date OS, but all my apps want a newer OS, any suggestions? I really do not want to buy a new tablet because Samsung won't launch the correct OS.

Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean that your apps all want a newer OS? Most apps should still run on Jellybean. If you want to update to KitKat or Lollipop, you'd have to root the device and install a custom KitKat or Lollipop ROM designed for that device.

The Tab 2 is a fairly old device. Android devices generally don't get updates beyond 18 months or so, often less if they aren't flagships.

As for the performance, you could try wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...ing-into-recovery-mode-galaxy-s2-s3-tab2.html

I had the same problem. After scouring the Internet seeking solutions here was the solution I found best sped up my Galaxy tablet.

1) Eliminate wall unnecessary apps.
2) Go to applicantions and for each app clear the cache

My Tab 2 10.1 has always seemed slow. It's bad enough that I prefer using my S4 over the Tab 2 even at home and my S4 is pretty sluggish. Did a factory reset, no joy. Rooted it in preparation to putting another OS build on it but haven't gone past that yet. I ran AnTuTu benchmark on it and my S4 and got these results:

Tab2 AnTuTu score 10582
3D unsupported
UX 3991
CPU 6560
RAM 31

S4 25831
3D unsupported
UX 8459
CPU 11731
RAM 5641

No, the 31 isn't a typo. The RAM benchmark seems to be broken for the Tab 2. Anybody else run the AnTuTu benchmark and get significantly different numbers?

I experienced the same problem to the point that the tablet became unusable. I used the factory reset and restore and now the tablet is much faster. Dunno why but it worked wonders.
