Tab s3 slowing down

I have my tab s3 about 2 years. I run the device maintenance options regularly. My internal storage I keep at around 60% or less.

Yet the tablet is laggy, it stalls and sputters on pages or trying to input or type anything. Very frustrating to see this once quick responsive , smooth as silk tablet seeming like $79 bargain no name tablet

Any ideas or suggestions to get it back to how it was?

I did do a reset, but it's still not responsive sometimes, and very slow. We are getting Pie soon according to the rumors. I hope it helps.

Sometimes a corrupt or defective SD card can impact performance in odd ways. It's worth a try -- just go to Settings>Storage and Unmount the card, then remove it, and then reboot the tablet.

Mine slowed to a crawl too, after a recent update. It's a pain to use. Is hope realistic?

Have had mine about two years, and is still lightning fast. (heavy daily use) And the battery life is still excellent.

Battery life sucks. Don't even last a day, and I haven't used it. When I go to use it, the battery is dead.

Question for you. Do you use only play store apps, or have you enabled allow from unknown sources and use side loaded apps?

Only Play Store.

Thanks, but I was really asking @camperbc because he said his is still running fast. But I guess your answer tells me its not necessarily the sideloaded apps, as yours is slow only using playstore. I run alot of sideloaded apps for streaming and apk editng.

So still a mystery ...

My Tab S3 really slowed down after the October update when my reserved memory dropped from 704 mgs to 376 mgs. Graphics really 'stutter', browser pages load slow (wifi).

My Husband hasn't installed the October update yet (postponed) & his reserved memory is still at 704 mgs. His Tab S3 doesn't lag at all.

I can't say that's the entire problem, but it's more than likely a contributing factor.
@milleniumdroid mentioned this in a few posts. He was the first to report the difference after the update I believe.

I went to Best Buy to check a new Tab S3 that had not had received updates & the reserved memory was the same as my Husbands.
