Tab S7 DeX question.

When using dex on the tab s7 are you able to use it like you would a pc with an external monitor. Have one app open in dex on an external and then being using another app on the tablet.

I just picked up an iPad pro and while it's a fantastic device. There are some areas that are frustrating. No true external monitor support. Multitasking leaves stuff to be desired.

Hi there.
I am not so sure with the S7. I do know with my phone that if it is connected to an external monitor I can use the phone for apps at the same time. For example I can have Sheets open on Dex and use my banking app on the phone at the same time to cross correlate the data between my bank account and my budget.

If you are able to project Dex to an external monitor then yes you can use the tablet separately I believe, but I am not sure if Dex takes over the whole tablet on the S7.

I use dex on my s21 all the time and do notice that the phone is %100 usable at the same time. I image that the s7 probably would allow for the same type of usage.

I am just looking to have a single device for work that isn't a whole laptop. The iPad is kind of hard to beat when it comes to tablets.

At the sametime I know that die hard apple fans will get really annoyed that I have an ipad that complements my better work flow on my S21 hahaha.

With the s7 and and external monitor, using Dex, the monitor is in Dex mode and the tablet is in tablet mode. I have the keyboard case from Samsung and the keyboard will work on the tablet if focus is given, but the TouchPad doesn't move the mouse over to the tablet. You also can only have the app open either on monitor in Dex, or on the tablet in tablet mode. Hope that answers the question.

Thank you for the reply I really appreciate it. At this point I will probably keep the iPad due to a few features programs that are Apple specific. Their one being garageband.

I really wish android would put a lot of resources into the tablet experience.

So can I use Dex on a tablet to run the tablet in a Windows type environment? Like can I run the Windows version of Excel on the tablet in Dex mode with no external monitor?
