Tablet slowed down with 5.0

Day 3 after getting the OTA. Smother than on Day 1 but Recent Apps still take a second or two to load. Pressing Home and getting to the home screen are still slightly laggy.

Got the OTA last night and no issues here so far. The speed of the tablet seems at least as good as before, if not better. Animations are smooth, good response time with home/recent apps keys. Maybe some slowdown when loading apps, but I can live with that instead of stuttering.

I agree. Wife got her update last night. It seems to have given new life to the old tablet. It seems to have fixed some of the problems where the tablet was lagging a bit. Apps do load faster now. I can't speak for battery life yet, especially since I spent a long time playing with settings. Also, the setting for color blindness is a great new feature. My son likes the colors on that setting much better as he said it is a lot easier to tell the difference between colors (esp. red and green).

Now everyone in the house has 5.0 on their Nexus device except me....Google hates me...

Got the OTA last night, and now my N7 is dreadfully slow. It was already slow in the first place, but it's very slow now.

I think my experience is similar to many. I like the way Lollipop looks and the notifications are nice, but the tablet is significantly slower when hitting the home and recent apps button. Also some apps (especially Facebook) just quit and drop you back to the home screen. This happens frequently.

Just for reference, I manually installed the OTA update and then did a factory reset.

I'm also having slow down issues. Browsing the web, using apps, etc is like pulling teeth.

I'm not entirely sure what to do to fix it. Disabling Google Now seems to have helped a little, but I'm still getting various process crashes and such.

:(

My N7 is almost worthless now that I got the OTA update. Severe lag, by seconds. I wiped the cache afterwords but didn't help. I'm not using my tablet until someone on here can figure a fix out.

Can someone who has a legitimate OTA install (unlike myself who side loaded) do me a favor and post a screenshot of the "About Tablet" page? TIA.

5.0 has trashed my N7 as well did the install last evening and now Chrome will not work everything is slow or it just freezes. It has shut itself down 4 or 5 times needing a restart. My 7 is bog standard not routed and not messed with and had almost 15G of free space. at the moment I am thinking iPad so f***ing peed off

Have you tried wiping the Cache and then a factory reset? It made mine run really nicely so far. After the OTA install I rebooted the tablet several times, wiped the Cache and then did the hard reset. Everything is running smoothly for now. Good luck!

I've wiped the cache partition, didn't really notice much difference. Disabling Google Now seems to have helped, though it still has its periods of telling me something has crashed "Report, wait, or shutdown." I've read that limiting the background processes to 2 seems to help as well, though haven't tried it.

Will probably end up doing a factory reset at some point over the weekend, as it will take me a whole day to get everything back the way I like it :(

I tried to take one, multiple times, earlier today and it just keep resetting my device. It's been a while since I've taken a screenshot, is it still power button + volume down?

Anyway, the info I have on screen says: -

Android version
5.0

Kernel version
3.1.10-g5d8ecd2
android-build@kpdm5.cbf.corp.google.com #1
Wed Aug 20 19:52:21 PDT 2014

Build number
LRX21P

Hope that helps :)

Thanks Sonic.

I wound up resetting to factory and it has improved dramatically. Not 100% thrilled but thrilled enough not to flash back to a previous version.

Installed my OTA this morning and cleared the system cache. Totally stock, unrooted, 16 gig, lots of free space. Running Nova Prime, so it still looks the same but it is SLOOOW! Takes a long time to load apps, apps crash, lag and stutter, Gmail and calendar widgets are slow to repopulate and I am generally unimpressed. I was much happier with KK 4.4.4. Plus I miss my Dashclock lockscreen widget!

Interesting Nova quirk: I have persistent search bar turned off, but when I hit the "recent" button (which takes forever to load) I get a white search bar above the cards, which does not appear on any of the home screens. When I go back to a home screen (which again takes forever) the search bar drops down off the screen thru the home screen. Can't figure out how to get rid of this.

Don't really want to do a factory reset, as I have Nova set up exactly as I want it and although I've backed it up thru the app, I'm not sure if it will restore or if I'll have to rebuild it. Do any of you know how to restore?

More than a few people are having this problem. From what I can gather, a lot of the 3rd party apps like FB, SoundCloud, etc., aren't playing nice with 5.0 hence affecting overall performance.
I received my update OTA (stock, not rooted) and it crashed some apps. I did a clean cache in recovery mode and it seems to be helping.... Figure I wait until apps catch up and update to adapt to lollipop. In the meantime I'll keep playing with it to see if it improves...

I have a question... Im running 5.0 stock, not rooted and received my update OTA...is it possible to flash an 5.0 OTA file while running on 5.0 already??? I'm hoping for a cleaner update this time... If its even possible

I had the Google update sent direct to me. I have done nothing to my 2012 Nexus 7 since I got it, apart from allow upgrades.

I am VERY disappointed with Lollipop. Facebook is a nightmare, keeps closing down. The tablet keeps resetting itself. I can't open PDF's via WPS (Kingstone Office). It is sooooo slow. I also get a different wallpaper when it feels like changing.

Mine is running fine, but I don't do Facebook so I haven't got the app installed. It does seem as though a bunch of apps aren't playing nice with Lollipop.

There is no doubt there is a monumental SCREW up somewhere we bought these Tablets in good faith and my warranty has just expired now the thing is virtually useless. I will not be buying another Google product thats for sure

Before the over air update last night I reset my 4.4 using a factory reset (backing up files before hand). This made a vast difference to the response from my nexus 7 (it has been very sluggish for months).

After the v5 update last night my nexus is still very responsive and no major ploblems, works and looks great.
