Handy tip I didn't know about, from the Honor 8 manual:

Taking snapshots when the screen is off

You can take rapid snapshots with your phone, even when the screen is off.
When the screen is off, point your phone at a subject and press the volume down button twice. Your phone will take a photo and display how fast it was captured.

It just automatically takes a quick pic of whatever you've got the camera lens aimed at. You point the lens, press the volume down button twice and -- boom -- it snaps a pic and then opens the camera app, so you can take another pic, or view the pic that was just taken automatically by the phone.

Focus has been fine with the few practice shots I've taken using this method.
