Take note of Backup Feature

I recently had to do a reset because of loss of sound on my Nexus 7. What I found was the back-up and restore feature was not functional (although it was checked in the system options).

After contacting Google and asking why the back-up didn't work, I was told that "I understand how confusing it must be that you're automatic back up did not occur. This does happen on occasion. Automatic restore can sometimes fail to kick in after a reset."
Kind of a open-ended statement to be sure. But just be aware of this and take appropriate measures.

The automatic restore will not set up home screens/widgets it will only redownload the apps that were installed.

I know, it did not do that. It's also supposed to restore all the settings on the apps but it did not. Google indicated that it was supposed to be automatic too, which it was not.

Automatic restore has never worked for me on any of my androids Despite having all the appropriate items checkmarked for backup

LOL thanks Dave. Now I feel better.
