Taking forever to BootUp!!!

so, i finally got gingerbread to download and everything, so before i did anything, i backed up my phone using the rom manager and than went to install zip from sd card, did the gingerbread file, rebooted, and it is at this abstract screen that does into an X. did i do something wrong? its taking forever to boot up!
