Android Central Question

Old Samsung S6 with Android 7.0. Today it's bugging out. It's been turning off for no reason and now the notifications are stuck. I cannot clear them with a swipe, or with the Clear Notifications option. When I tap on any of the notifications it does not take me to the app, but instead takes me to the notifications settings for that app. Additionally, I cannot use the icons on the bottom tray of my home screen for make a phone call or others. Instead of opening the app it will display the secondary menu like I had done a hold tap on it. When I move the app out of the tray and into the screen with all the other apps it works fine.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this persist in Safe Mode? https://www.t-mobile.com/support/de...6-edge-g925t/safe-mode-samsung-galaxy-s6-edge. You'll only be able to test preinstalled apps in Safe Mode.

Also try wiping the cache partition: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/de...g920t/wipe-cache-partition-samsung-galaxy-s-6

I'm curious if there is any screen damage? S6, how many years ago was that? And to make it this long without any damage... Often users live with a cracked or broken screen for so long that it doesn't even register that the device is damaged because it has continued to work for so long.

If the screen is undamaged and there have been no falls or moisture in the device's past the things B. Diddy is suggesting may work.

To me it sounds like the screen is sensing multiple touches at the same time and/or it is experiencing issues with the digitizer, like it thinks it is being touched in two places rather than one or holding touches that have been released, like a long press.

These symptoms are also reminiscent of a dirty, old or damaged screen protector. If debris has gotten under a corner of the protector or it has started to come off, this can play games with touch detection and sensitivity. Try removing the screen protector and cleaning the screen one good time.
