Hello
Is it advisable to use the task manager to shut own all programs when not using the phone or when not using a particular program to save the battery?
Thank you

The general consensus seems to be that it does not effect battery consumption and to just leave them alone.

IMO, that has been proven wrong on my phone. I always clear out the Recently Used task list before I put the phone asleep.

It depends on the recently used apps. Hangouts and Google Play Music don't affect my phone's battery whether they are left "open" or not. However, I always close Facebook and reddit is fun, both of those apps update in the background and continually pull data in (whether I'm on wi-fi or cellular) causing my phone's battery life to take a hit. I also always close games out along with everything else. Hangouts and Google Music are the only two apps I leave running. I just don't want to take the time to go through and learn which apps pull data in when they aren't being used and which ones don't.

Plus Facebook is an extreme resource hog.

I did not make mention that MacroDroid turns off my radios if the phone is not being used.

I also uninstalled Facebook and Twitter yesterday...
Never again on a phone...
if I want to see something there, I will use the PC.
