Tbolt used my cars speaker/mic without bluetooth...cannot replicate

So the other day, I was playing music in my car via the headphone jack using an auxiliary cable, so whenever I got a text i would hear the ringtone through the cars speakers, which is understandable because you hear the tone when you have headphones on. But then I got a call, and I heard the persons voice through the speakers and I am pretty sure I was using my cars mic because my phone was in the center console and the person heard me clearly. I thought this was great, since I hate having to turn my BT on in the car and on the phone, and then pair them, I could just stick the wire in and make calls. But I could not replicate this yesterday, I stuck the cable in and made a call but it wouldnt come thru the speakers...How can I make this work? Do I have to be playing music?

You have to choose the speaker when you make the call. Or you have to make the call first then insert the cord. i used to do this with my BlackBerry and I have done it with the TBolt too.
