TCL Android TV Security

I was getting ready to hit the buy button at Best Buy to purchase the 50" or 55" TCL Android TV but then saw a security report about a back door security threat. I checked Android Central to see if there was any information over a security threat, but found nothing.

Wanted to see if anyone else has any knowledge of it or if any of the moderators have any new information over the safety of the TVs. I am putting the link below on where I found out about this information.

There's certainly been a flurry of articles about it in the past 24 hrs, but I think it's all just based on those two security researchers' report. Definitely raises some concerns. Hopefully TCL will make an official statement about it, rather than just silently close the backdoor now that everyone knows about it.:-\

Just seems shady from TCL and Google to not bring this up for the public. Hopefully someone will write a story on this or do more digging to see if it is a big deal or just a good warning before buying.
