Hi everyone. I'm a technical person but I'm not well-versed in Android devices, so excuse me if I ask any stupid questions.

I've bought this Android tablet a few weeks ago and so far it's been a very pleasant ride except for one annoying feature.

The screen changes brightness depending on the displayed content.

For example if I open a page with lots of white and then switch to a darker website I can see the screen slowly and noticably dimming. And if I switch back to the bright page, the screen gradually brightens.

This happens regardless of any settings and no matter the app used.

I've contacted official support and I've tried the following:
  1. Launching the tablet in Safe Mode. This doesn't change anything, the brightness still changes on its own.
  2. Downloading their official upgrade tool and upgrading the firmware. When I did this, the tool said I already have the latest software but I went ahead with it anyway, hoping it would fix something. The tablet got factory reset but the issue still occurs.
At this point support told me to record a video so they could replicate the issue but the camera of my Honor 8X couldn't capture the effect.

I've checked the developer settings, there's nothing there. I've also checked all the available settings through Adb, there were a few that started with "nxtpaper" but I doubt they would do anything.

Does anybody know how to fix this? Perhaps install a custom rom? I've tried searching for one but to no avail.

Also, does anyone know how I could capture this issue on camera? The tablet has a matte screen with glossy protective film .
