Temporarily Override App Defaults (via Long Press)?

What I'd like to be able to do is set a default app for an action (e.g. opening an HTML link) but have the option to use a different app on the fly. A long/short press setup where the long press provides a list of apps (as the OS does when no default is set) seems like a very natural way to do this. I'm running an essentially stock 2.3.4 on a rooted DInc 2. Any suggestions for a way to accomplish this?
