Tether download speed question.

When I run the speedtest.net app on my phone I can usually see between 500k to 1m. When I am usb tethered with easytether to my laptop running Chrome on Ubuntu 10.04 going to speedtest.net's web site I am lucky to see 100k. Is it normal to see a 5 to 10 fold drop in speed or am I missing something?

are you testing in the same place reception etc??? I got about 1.5 on speedtest from the laptop using the phone

Within an inch or so. Both tests within a minute.
