Tethering without rooting on unlimited plan?

What evidence do you have that it is against Verizon s terms? I don't doubt you but as I said I called and rep said OK to use.

Are you on an unlimited data plan or no? If not then of course he said you could... If you are on an unlimited plan they wouldn't say that.

Why is lock screen recommend? I have a 3rd party lock screen that I use and when I run Foxfi then I have two lock screens. Any way to run Foxfi without installing stock lock screen? 1384748109036.jpg

I had unlimited and did tethering. When you tether whatever device that is tethered will pass through your phone with a different ip. I could still do everything on my phone, but any app that needed a connection or web browser on my tethered device was blocked by verizon. The web broswer popped up a nice message saying I was using a tethered device that was not allowed on my current plan and to contact verizon to discuss a plan that included tethering.

were you using foxfi when getting these messages? I've never had any message pop up on my tethered device,i've tethered tablets, and laptops with no issue at all. infact had some one in a meeting jump on my hotspot with a kindle.

hmmm maybe i'm a bit touchy on the subject....seems like i've spent years defending my unlimited data, and the fact that i use the unlimited data. my favorite was the person who said basically that all you can eat restaurants don't really expect you to eat all you can eat and thats just rude.....geez.....

sorry if i came off snarky :)

that's exactly what I did. Even got the guy to knock the price down to 22.99 for everything. lifetime warranty......yes please.

If it's all you can eat then why wouldn't you?!? I'm in the same boat, I use the unlimited. I rooted and left my s4 at stock to get tethering hack. Seemed to do the trick. Now my work phone (note 3) has unlimited data and hotspot :-)

Of the major carriers, Verizon's unlimited hotspot plan is the best out there, no other carrier officially allows unlimited data tethering.
Verizon's unlimited hotspot plan is very cheap compared to official hotspot plans from tmobile or Sprint for very heavy data users. Att doesn't even officially allow tethering on their unlimited data plan (you would have to move to a tiered data plan if you wanted a plan that supported tethering).

Unrooted Note3
Beware, I was using fattin hotspot widget up until an OTA phone update the last couple of days on the Note 3. WiFi tether will no longer work. reinstalled fattin.. no go. Guess I will have to root...
