Tethering working but not working (S21+, A11)

It's worked before on my laptop several times. Tonight, I get it hooked as usual, turn it on, connects, shows connected. No internet through any browser

ping works! pinged google with good times

I uninstalled the galaxy phone drivers and installed the latest ones. Still same thing

I prefer not to hotspot for security and battery reasons

Are you trying to use a VPN? If so, turn it off.

Have you been tethering a lot? Many wireless plans have a monthly limit for how much can be tethered from the phone.

Our plan has 5GB full speed, but indefinite data

I just tried it on another laptop and the same thing

You're talking about tethering, and not just your general data limits, right?

Our plan gives us unlimited tower high priority for regular use

But tethering/hotspot is 5GB before throttling. I tested this several months ago when I decided to down two linux ISO's. It dropped to ~600k after 5gb

Ok, and you haven't exceeded the 5 GB of tethering this month? Even though it says unlimited data, the throttled speed might be so low that websites time out if forced to use that speed.

Are you saying that some devices connect to the phone's hotspot and the speeds seem fine, but others don't?

All device that connect to the hotspot work fine. All devices I tether with USB do not access web sites at all (though it does ping out)

Ah, so the wireless hotspot connection is working, but not the USB tethering. What if you turn off the wireless hotspot -- does USB tethering work then?

Always do. The reason I was able to do it before. Latest network drivers

Have you also tried different cables?
