text and phone contacts dont cross over?

So I just added a new contact in the messages app. That contact does not come up in the phone contacts... Even when searching by name. Why?

I just did that and it showed up in the phone app. You sure you hit save?

Yep. And when I exit it is there again in text but not phone. Same is true on my wife's. Wonder if I messed up a setting?

Under the contacts, tap phone book on top. That should bring up all the groups that your contacts are sorted under. It may have been added to one of those.

I always add my contacts to my Google account. Never my phone. So it's always there and not tired to my phone.
