Aim is the first thing that comes to mind not texting though. Chompsms has something called textfreek look that up

I would also think some sort of instant messenger would be your best bet... gtalk, aim, pingchat etc. otherwise try googling 'free international texting' - when I did it there were a bunch of options that may work for you.

I agree that a messenger program would be your best option since it uses data. KIK has been a very popular IM. Of course there is every other messenger out there as well and they all use data so there are no charges as long as you have a data plan.

Not a free option, but Chomp SMS, allows you to send and receive at a discounted rate.

the problem here is the person im trying to text....doesnt have a smartphone....i know weird to hear that but he doesnt. so he cant get kik....mmmmmm maybe he needs to invest in a better fone! thanks everyone!
