text message fail!

After the most recent update, I am like many others who are experiencing a slew of problems. The problems are: horrendous connectivity speeds, poor to very little 4g, rapidly deteriorating battery, and text messages failing to send. Even though I am hoping that a fix will come out, I highly doubt it will happen any time soon. With that said, I already checked to make sure I am not on global for my connection speeds. My connection speeds are as slow as painful and slow as watching paint dry!!

My question is this. Does anyone have any temp fixes for text messages failing to send? It took 20-25 mins for me to send a simple text message tonight. Sometimes they send right away, but more times than not they come back as fail. This problem just started with the last update and is steadily getting worse.

I have zero plans on doing a factory reset as the Verizon techs will advise. My only other choice is to demand a replacement phone as it should not have the recent problematic update.

Any ideas for the text message fail other than our garbage recent update being the problem?

Sorry to hear about all of your and other peoples problems. I don't have any solutions for your problem other then to suggest if you are going to send your phone in anyways for a replacement, you might want to do a factory reset on it to clear your personnel data before you send it in, set it back up just to the point you can test your connection speeds and texting and if it the reset works or doesn't you will know what to do from that point. Sounds like you don't have a lot to loose at this point.

I'm having the same problem. It's frustrating as hell.

I called Verizon they are sending me a new phone. That is really the last thing I wanted, but I want my phone to work more than I want it to be my phone.

I'm having the same problem. I have found that my recipient is usually receiving them, but my phone continues to send me "Failed". :-\

Is this only one recipient?
What about all your other recipients?
Is the problem recipient on a different carrier or the same carrier?
Does the recipient have an iPhone?
Has this recipient always had this problem, or did it start recently?

Has anyone found a solution or work around for this? Other Apps? GO SMS Pro, no worky either!

My wife's GS3 is having this problem. She can't get her phone to show the texts being delivered. About 1/2 of them make it but it still shows failed on her phone.

I have a GS3 also and she has the problem between her GS3 and mine as well as other Verizon and non Verizon phones.

This is really annoying. I hate to ditch her phone just because texts are not working but it's a major issue. She uses texting in her work.

Anyway, hopefully someone knows a work around or Verizon steps up soon and fixes this.

JSE,
What firmware is on your wife's S3? Assuming that it's the latest (MF1), did she also receive the botched MD3 firmware, and then upgrade from that? If that's the case, you probably want to perform a Factory Reset.
There are a ton of apps out there that will make it easy to recover quickly from a Factory Reset - here are a few that I use:
Cloud Drive: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.amazon.clouddrive.photos
Helium: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup
MyBackup Pro: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackupPro (there's also a trial version)

GSDer,

Yep, she's on MF1 and I think she did upgrade from the MD3 firmware.

I did a factory reset last night and she's still having the same problem. I had hoped that would do the trick. From what I have been reading, the reset doesn't seem to do much good if any. At best, people are saying it's just a temporary fix that last a couple days at most.

It's alos weird that she is having some problems with phone calls as well. There are a couple numbers that just won't go through. People on the other end get the call but it's silent. On my wife's end, it's silent as well.

If verizon doesn't push a fix out soon, might be time to change out phones for her.

After doing the Factory Reset did you reload all of her previous apps from the Google Play Store? I'd recommend using it "clean" at first just to be sure that none of her apps are causing problems.

You can also try rebooting into Recovery mode and clearing the cache.

Yep, I tried using it "clean" before loading all the apps.

She's out of town right now so I'll try the reboot in recovery mode. When you say clearing the Cache, do you mean the cache for the messaging app?

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

No, when you reboot into Recovery mode and clear the cache it's the system cache.
If you wanted to just clear the Messaging cache you could do that from within the Application Manager - just find Messaging, select it and then Clear cache.

Had the messed up updatd then the fixed one. Still have poor battary. Then the text message problems started up again. Getting failed on reg text (sms) then it takes Forever for mms to go through again. The blue circle keeps spinning. Help
