Text message notification

I am having an issue with my text messaging on my galaxy. It always says I have one message even when I dont and I have to shut the phone off in order to get the number one hypocritical the envelope to clear. Any suggestions of what's going on or how to fix it?

Try sending yourself a text or have someone send you a text. Delete the newly received text & the counter should reset itself to zero.

Years ago, when this would happen one had to remove the battery and the SIM (as per AT&T), wait 30 seconds or so, and then reconnect it all. That seemed to resolve it...

Yeah, I tried all of these things and it still does it. The only thing that fixes it is shutting down my phone and turning it back on. I do not want to do this all the time but it is annoying it constantly saying that I have one message when I do not.

...last option, besides calling AT&T, reset to factory, and start over.
