Text Message Vibrate

How do I get my Droid Eris to only vibrate when I receive a text message?

Handcent allows you to do such things: "Settings" > "Notification Setting" > "Vibrate" > The following options are present:

() Always
() Never
() Only when volume set to vibrate

Hope this helps!

You should be able to find a similar setting for the default as well.

Explore your menus, you'll find everything you could imagine!

Thanks, that helps, although I was wondering if there was any way to have the phone on ring, but have the text message tone be vibrate ONLY.

Set the notification ringer to "Silent"....should be listed as one of the listed ringtone options

I went under Settings - Sound & Display - Notification Sound. There is no "silent" ringtone there... Am I looking in the wrong place or is there something wrong with my phone?

Try this:
Settings>Sound & Display> Ringer volume> unselect use incoming call volume for notifications and move slider all the way left. >ok>home

Messages>Menu>Settings>scroll down to Vibrate and check

I have the same problem. I installed an app to help me connect to Skype through my phone, didn't like it and uninstalled, but now my phone never vibrates. Even enabling Handcent's vibrate setting doesn't turn it on for me.
