Hi - I'm new to this forum and to Android devices. I've been an iPhone, Windows Phone 8, Blackberry, Treo, PalmPilot user and have been on all those forums at one point or another. I've searched and read quite a bit here on how to text on the Nexus 7, but so far, I'm not finding what I'm looking for. Currently, I have an iPhone 5 on Verizon and just got a Nexus 7, which is pretty sweet. I'd like to be able to send & receive text messages on my Nexus 7 using my Verizon phone number and have sent and received texts sync between the Nexus and iPhone. I can't use Google Voice because this is a business phone and the number is too well established to change it. I installed the Verizon Messages app on the Nexus, but messages sent from the Nexus do not show up on the iPhone. A few threads on AndoidCentral seem to say that the Verizon Messages app either doesn't work on the Nexus 7 or won't work if I'm using an iPhone. So does anyone know if there is a way to send and receive text on the Nexus 7 using my Verizon number and have the messages sent and received on each device show up on the other device?

Hello,
I too have a N7 2013 and found that I can text using an app called "Text+" however I have found that I cannot import any contacts to it
Possibly because I have NO facebook or twitter account..I heard that Skype can also do SMS messages..I also found that
I cannot receive pictures with SMS but I guess that's normal..
Goodluck
PS I love my N7

Verizon Messages works perfectly to sync SMS between my Nexus 7 and LG G2. So maybe it's something to do with the iPhone?

There's an app called Mighty Text, which works brilliantly - you have to install on phone & tablet. I've no idea if there's an Apple version though!

I went to the Verizon store, and they were clueless. So they put me on the phone with tech support. While I was on the phone with them, they went to the lab and tested the functionality of Verizon Messages functionality using an iPhone and a couple of Android tablets. They were able to duplicate the problem I'm experiencing, which is that messages sent from the Android or VZW web app do not show up on the iPhone. I was told that I will not be able to see messages sent from another device in the native text app on the iPhone, but they did not know if or when Verizon will have an iPhone version of the Verizon Messages app. So all the Verizon marketing copy and the cute video proudly demonstrating the functionality is not valid and accurate if you use an iPhone and Android tablet.
