Text messages stopped popping up

Out of nowhere, I now no longer get alerted of a text message when my screen isn't in use. I've turned off allow notifications, turned it back on, cleared cache, etc. Has this happened to anyone else. Is there something else I'm not thinking of trying?

Turn on Categories in Advanced Options of Notifications. Then check if every category is set up correctly.

Boom! That was it! Oddly, I have zero idea how that got turned on. It only should be on from 10pm -4am.

The dreaded do not disturb gremlin lol. You don't have a watch or tablet or anything else that syncs with your phone which could be a culprit, right?

Usually, when Do Not Disturb is ON, there will be a notification at the top of the notification list, reminding you that is On and for what duration. You can press on that notification in order to turn it off.

You will also find a Do Not Disturb button, in the pull down tool menu that you access by swiping down twice from the top of the screen. Perhaps, you accidentally hit that button.
