Text messaging/wifi/3g

Hello there.

So I got my Optimus T about a month ago (my first smart phone) and haven't had any problems until now. Today, I noticed that I am only receiving my text messages when I am connected to my wifi at home. I have the unlimited 2gb data plan, but my 3g doesn't seem to be working. Whenever I leave my house, I see the E on the top bar. I checked the settings and not sure exactly what to check to make sure my 3g is working when I'm not at home so I can get my text messages.

Also, my 2G keeps turning on by itself! I keep turning it off but it keeps turning itself on. Confuzzled!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think that means you don't have 3g available in your area so your phone automatically switches to 2g (E).
