I am unable to send or receive text messages on my EVO lte as of about 5 hours ago. I'm in central NJ. Anyone else experiencing this?

I've been hearing about this for the Evo 4G LTE and the One X. Try clearing the cache/data from the text app, and chances are all should be well.

That didn't work, but I called sprint and they just had to reset something on their end and we are all up and running again. I'm so glad it was an easy fix.

Re: Text messaging (Fix for not being able to send or receive)

Go in to Settings and then Apps and doing it from there. I also learned this little trick. If you can't send or receive texts do this.

Dial ##72786#

Enter your MSL code and hit OK

Click Reset and hit OK

Hit OK again

The phone will reset and you will then be able to Send and Receive texts again.

Sometimes things get jammed up and need to be reset. I hard phone reset won't get the job done here. This is the same as having Sprint do it on their end without the hassle of calling.

So what exactly is this doing? Sorry to ask something that may be obvious, but without a clear cut explanation, I think a lot of people may be weary of doing it.

It will reset the text messaging part of the phone. I did it this morning after not being able to send or receive texts for almost a full day with nothing else working. It didn't do anything else to the phone.

So I went ahead and tried this, just to see what it would do (my curiosity got the best of me). It essentially re-registers your phone on the Sprint network for both calling and texting. Not a bad thing at all, and doesn't really make a difference if there is nothing that it's correcting. But good to know if you're in a pinch and don't feel like having Customer Service do something that we are perfectly able to do ourselves.
