Text messenger with specialities needed

[Android Central Question]

I need a text messaging program with two special characteristics. Hopefully one program can do both, but if not, then fine.

1. I need a text messaging program that does not need SMS verification. In other words, I need an app I can install and use in a situation where I have wifi but no cell service. There's a lot of that in AZ.

2. I need a text messaging app that does NOT use the phone number as a destination address. I want to be able to give someone a way to communication with me without telling them who I am.
