Text notifications not working since I've installed whatsapp

so I downloaded whatsapp about 2 weeks ago and ever since then my regular text notifications are not working (sound). I have tried meeting my sound on whatsapp to see if my regular notification would work but only the vibrate doe. I have checked the settings several times turning the sound on and off and it isn't working. Any suggestions?

Strange. The WhatsApp audio notifications are working fine?
Are you using the stock Messaging app?
I use both of those and have had no such issues.

You could try uninstalling WhatsApp, making sure that your regular notifications are sounding and then reinstalling WhatsApp. And of course, check the settings in both apps to be sure that notifications are turned on.
