Text Notifications

I'm new to android. I downloaded handcent but now I receive 2 notifications for every text I get. How do I turn off the stock messanger notifications? Thanks in advance.

Go to messaging in your app drawer, hit menu options>settings>Notifications.. uncheck it.

Got it thanks. That took away the multiple notifications. However, the red number still pops up by the bottom green messaging icon. Any way to prevent that from showing up, or no?

You need to replace the icon in your drawer so it shows the handcent app instead of the stock one. Do this by going to your app drawer, hitting menu options, edit, then drag the handcent icon in place of the stock one.

handcent issue

I disabled all notifcations on stock and put handcent in botton tray and it still shows orange number counter and all my messages.
