Text thread lag with just one person, how can I fix the lag?

Text thread lag with just one person

Hi, I have the note 5, and my text thread with my boyfriend is beyond annoying with the lagging. When I open it up, it takes 5 seconds to load. When I send a text, if I want to send another right away, it takes up to 10 seconds sometimes before I'm able to type anything and if he happens to respond right away, it can take up to a full minute or more before my phone will allow me to type. It is only his text thread that this happens to. I've deleted all the pictures from the thread....aside from deleting the thread completely, is there any way to fix the lag?

Welcome to Android Central! How long is the thread? If there are thousands and thousands of messages in the thread, that might cause some lag. It might be best to delete the whole thread, then start a new one.

As B. Diddy has said above, if there are a lot of messages in that particular thread with that specific contact, a lag could become evident. I'd delete the thread or delete a bunch of messages to try and correct this.

My mom and I have to do this a lot, so I know what you're talking about!

I get that from time to time from texting my girlfriend, you unfortunately have to delete it and start over. For some reason once you go over a few thousand texts it starts to slow down.
