Text to Speech - How do I get it to work ?

In the settings, I see, Text to Speech and how to set up the voice, launguage and speech rate, but how do I get this to work ? Is this supposed to be a text to speech that will read out my emails or messages ?

go to the android market and download motospeak or moto speak.
it will read your text messages via bluetooth device for free. i think for the email you need to buy it.

on your DroidX ... Menu Key > Settings > Accessibility > (check Accessibility), (check Screen Reader) (ok the warning)

Now click your Back button and the next item you highlight should be read out to you. You can then change your text-to-speech settings under the Settings > Text-to-speech.
