Texting Issues

[AC Question]

Having issues with incoming texts. My texts show up on my screen with the emojis I input and the words look normal, however, the person who is sending me texts from a Droid, her emojis come across as X=\ or similar instead of actually smily faces or hearts, etc. And the actual text is odd, letter all separate like the words are not connected, example, h e l p m e, so some words have letters on separate lines which makes it a little harder to read the text. Any help would be great.
