Texting Notifications Like the Samsung Galaxy S4?

One of the things I like on mg wife's Galaxy S4 is that when she receives a text it pops up a small circular picture icon of that particular contact. I think that is pretty darn cool!

I was wondering if there is someway to do that with the G2 as well?

Each phone has its own way of handling sms messages. You can allow Google Hangouts to manage sms messages if you want.

Give it a try and see how you like it (you can disable the SMS management within Hangouts if you don't like it)

The Facebook messenger app has the pop out circle called chat heads. You can set up your sms through it. Sounds like that may be what she is using.

Yep, that is what it is. Thank you! I have it downloaded now and am trying to figure out how to set it up for my SMS as the settings tab doesn't include enabling for SMS as a webpage was explaining it.

When I get a text I get a little window that allows me to reply. This happens when I am in a browser, in any other apps, etc.. SMS app works very well in G2.

I do as well, but I was looking for something like my wife has instead of a little window, it's just a little circle with that person's picture in it.

There is an alternative to the Facebook Messenger app called Ninja SMS and it has the chat heads, but I cannot get MMS to work with it. I have the APN settings correct, but it just doesn't seem to want to send out any MMS. I am hoping that it has nothing to do with me not having a data plan. MMS works through the normal SMS/MMS app on my phone.

No offense taken and I agree 'To each their own'

Right, but the thing is, with those circles, can you reply right away or do you still have to tap and reply? Also are those circles good for anything other than "OK" or "Sure, thanks" or something like that, short messages.. Usually my text messages push limit of SMS characters so I prefer to have full notification, but anyway like you said some might like circles, and if it is a deal breaker one might always go for Samsung instead of LG.

In my original reply I was referring to the default sms/text window that pops up and allows you to either open the default app or use the small pop window to reply to the originating sender.

She would press on the circle and it will bring you right to the messaging app. I do like that ability. There is generally no message in the circle, just your contact's icon and that's all.

I am stuck with my LG G2 and I do love this phone, please do not get me wrong. I am stuck with it because there is a $50 restocking fee, and my wife would never allow me to spend an extra $50 to get another phone, besides, she doesn't want me having the same phone as her...lol.

So extra steps involved to replay to the "face circle". Doesn't seem as handy as having the little box pop up that you can immediately type a message on and hit send. Not to mention you can still see a pic of the contact in said box as well. :)
