Texting on Computer?

Anyone have a recommendation for sending/receiving texts via computer as well as phone?

I know you can use Google Apps and other online services to text, but then you have text streams going under a different number. It's like using two different email addresses. I would like to be able to send/receive texts from my computer at times, but I want it to use the same number as my MAXX. Ideally, the text conversations would appear on both the phone and the computer app.

Came across this app a few minutes ago. I don't personally use it, but it does seem to do what you're wanting to do. It's called Mighty Text.

Get the lapdock! You can text, surf, view emails and talk all at the same time. It's ultra convenient w the larger screen and keyboard mouse combo. Plus all of your threaded text messages are there.

Koush does great work, and I swear by this app. There is a nominal annual fee, but worth it for stability. Install Gtalk and then it comes to gtalk on the desk top from your phone, you type and it goes back through the phone, on the other end it just looks like you're texting.

I have been using Mighty Text for about a year now. It works great and uses the same number as your phone. Conversations show up on the desktop just like it does on the phone.

Airdroid is what I use and its great. It also transfers files and you can view photos and videos on the phone and has a cool interface and is free!
