Texting on the x

hi guys,
got my x on release day. Love the phone..maybe the best one ive had yet..
coming form a bb s1 and s2..
was wondering through when I text someone horizontally I noticed that periods appear in the text and are random..

like the text.to.you.would.appear like.this??

I dont hit the . button either..weird..

when you use word prediction, and choose a word from the list it automatically places a space after the word, so when you press the space key, it is a second space that gives you a point. if that makes sense.

i accidentally hit the period all the time when typing in landscape. its just that the spacebar is a touch too small (or the punctuation key a a touch too big). either that or you might be double hitting space, which auto inserts a period

Or you could be hitting the the period instead if the spacebar. I used to do that all the time with my Hero.

eh, i would not use swype in landscape, though i do enjoy using it in portrait

Yes, swype is awesome in portrait. Kinda different in landscape, but still do-able

Blackberry automatically adds the period on double space, so you're prob used to that. You might be hitting the pd key. Have you tried someone elses dx to see if you can replicate the issue?

I hated to text till I got this phone and learned how to use swipe,now I can't get enough.

Does anyone know how to display the characters remaining when in landscape mode? It only shows in portrait mode. I type in landscape and would prefer to know when I am approaching the limit of one text message before I finish it and change the phone orientation. I am using Swype.

I still can't decide between Swype and MultiTouch. I have been switching back and forth every few days. There is just something about using Swype that I can't quite put my finger on which is keeping me from loving it completely. I think it's really because you have to hold the phone so much differently while drawing with your finger than you do while typing with two thumbs. I do love that you can type quickly with only one finger though.

I have had the same issue with the periods as well and its definetly hitting the space bar twice i don't see how you can miss a key in landscape the buttons are HUGE Lol. This multitouch keyboard is easiley the most responsive and accurate virtual keyboard i have used hands down.

its a long reach for my thumb in landscape. usually i hit the period a lot when get lazy while typing

I understand what you mean, but I still thought that sentence was pretty ironic!
