Texting over WiFi

[Android Central Question]

Hello all. I’ve been considering going back to Android (OnePlus6t) but am confused on how texting does over WiFi. Currently I have an iPhone and cannot send/receive texts to Android phones over WiFi and only while cellular data, will it work. I don’t know if this is an iPhone thing, but it makes me wonder if I’ll have issues texting when I do not have data but do have WiFi. Do the Android devices have a setting to allow texting while only connected to WiFi?
