Hi, is it right that you can only send one picture at a time through text? Says pictures exceed (something or other, can't remember) when I try and send more.
Thanks

Each MMS message has a size limit for attachments. The limit is usually around 1 MB (on Verizon, it's 1.2 MB, but other carriers might have an even smaller size limit). So if the combined size of the photos exceeds that limit, you won't be able to send the message.

That's a pain as with my iPhone you could send various pictures, even to non iPhones so not using imessage.

Apple uses iMessage protocol, and they don't impose a limit. They won't allow anyone else to use the protocol, and the texting protocol is older than cellphones, so it's not going to be changed. There are 3rd party messaging apps that allow larger attachments, but both people have to be using the same app. (I believe you can send larger pictures on Hangouts, but I don't use it, so I can't be sure. I think B. Diddy does, though.)

Yes, if you're sending a photo as a Hangouts IM (and not as an MMS message via Hangouts), then you can send a large photo, because you're basically uploading the pic to your Google Photos in the cloud, then sharing that link privately with the recipient on Hangouts. But remember, the other person has to be using Hangouts as well--you can't receive a Hangouts IM on the stock SMS/MMS app.
