Texting question for s4

Does anyone know how to get rid of the goofy character face next to the text messages if you do not have a picture to put there?

Also, in the notification bar when it says "new message" is there a way to have it say "new message from xxx"?

Try chomp, it has a great pop up and reply, plus no pics in conversations.
