Good day. I am new to the Android world. I have a HTC Vivid and I took notice when I type a text message, sometimes after I type a word and hit the space bar the word I just typed changes to a different word. Is this normal? If so is there a work around or app to fix it?

That's called Text Prediction. It's useful for spell correction or word completion. If you'd prefer not to use it, you can turn it off. Go to Menu>Settings>Language & Keyboard. Under Keyboard Settings select Touch Input>Text Input and uncheck Prediction.

Or you can leave it on, and it will give you the option of learning the words you use and adding them to the phones dictionary. That way after awhile it will know how you type and you'll be typing faster than ever!

After the word is changed you can undo it by backspacing once. This will usually do the trick.

If you don't care to have prediction enabled then just disable as suggested by Sharksfan.

You can also edit the misspelled words which seem to find their way there. I've saved some words prior to correcting the spelling and use this to correct. Wish I could delete some of these rather than all.

this is additional info is for those who don't know;

there are many other better keyboard apps than stock kb on the market

so it will do multi predictions as u type, u just pick the correct one or space bar depending on how you set it up.

most of the apps have many settings, disable spell check, space bar to accept, auto cap 1st word, auto periods, etc

after it learns what u usually type it is indispensable cuz it is extremely fast

u can also edit user dictionary in most of them

try out checkout swiftkey X & others on the market to see what u like, u can always remove the app if u don't like it anyways

once u find the right keyboard app u should be very happy it

its all a matter of finding the app that fits your style

hope that may help
