Texts Received as Email

About a week ago, I noticed that text messages from one friend were no longer coming through on Handcent, but as an email instead. It displays her phone number rather than her name, even though she's in my contacts. So instead of her name, it shows it coming from (phone number).vtext.com. She's noticed the same thing with me and for both of us, we're the only one with which this is happening. We're both on Verizon, though I wouldn't think that has anything to do with the issue. Any thoughts on why this is occurring?
