Good Morning Everyone,

I notice every time I am sending a certain person a text message I always see a few words from a previous text that I sent, when I use the back space to delete it and exit out it will say draft saved, but I am not trying to save a draft, I even tried looking for the saved draft but don't know how to find it to get rid of it, therefore each time I text this certain person I have to remove the few words and as I exit it continues to save. Is there any way I can get rid of this annoying thing?

When you first open the SMS app, look at the three tabs on the bottom, mainly the first two. First one is for all messages, and the second one is SMS/MMS, followed by the third being voice mail. Click the second one (SMS/SMS) tab and then open the conversation you are having this problem. You should see the draft text in there and you can delete it.

HTC saves drafts differently.

When you go into the Messages application, press the 'Menu' button. You will see a sub-menu pop up, with two rows of buttons.
The first row will show 'Delete' 'Drafts' 'Compose' if you have draft messages saved. If you have none saved, the 'Drafts' option will be missing.

Select 'Drafts'. From there, you will see any draft messages saved. You can either long-press on one message until it gives you the 'View'/'Delete' options, or press the 'Menu' button again and select 'Delete Drafts' to delete them.

Did that make sense?

My wife had this same thing happening on her phone. I went into settings-appliciations-manage applications-running-messages and cleared the data. It said something about I would loose all data or something like that but all that I lost were the drafts that kept popping up. Just deleting the drafts in the messages app didn't work. For whatever reason they kept coming back.

I had this extremely frustrating issue as well. I deleted all drafts, cleared the messaging app's data using the method described by cjbmr77, but still had the issue. Following a reboot, the issue was gone. It's possible that a reboot alone will fix it, but if not, try the 2 other steps mentioned.

Thank you this solved my problem, I tried the reboot first and they were still there, I had to actually do the steps that you suggested. I appreciate all the feedback on this annoying issue.

HTC Sense is the only UI that does it that way that I've seen... all the other androids all just let you delete drafts from the main messaging conversation.

I was stumped for a while with an owner of a Incredible that could not delete the drafts as well. Thats when I found out how to REALLY delete the drafts.

I was glad to help!

Finally Figured it out

What you have to do is go into messages. Press Menu. Press Drafts. Press the draft you want to get rid out ( actually bring it to full screen). Press menu then Discard. It should be gone permanently.

Hi clickclick...I know this post is 7 years old but I just HAD to say 'thanks'! I just spent the last 2 hours rummaging through Google Search, because 'some' of the photos I was sending to my PC from my smartphone was winding up in my Gmail Drafts folder...and even at that there was still no photos. I had heard once before that doing a restart on my PC sometimes straightens out strange problems; but never occurred to me to do a restart on my Alcatel smartphone. And 'BAM BAM' you were spot on. Now I will know the fix in the future. Would love to know what causes this and if there would be any permanent setting I could make to avoid constant restarts. Thanks again, Larry
