Texture in Screen

I think this is similar to what some other users have reported about lines in their screens. When viewing the screen dimmed in low light, all colors seem to have a texture behind them, sort of like an "old paper" sort of pattern. There are faint lines running horizontally and vertically. At full brightness, I don't see it.

This isn't a make-or-break issue for me, but does everyone else experience this? Or does this indicate that I should exchange it? Otherwise, I am loving this phone and having no issues.

Its called color banding. Was the image 1440x1280 HD image? Try hitting google up for an image of those specs and see how it looks on your screen.

I've also heard that its a "feature" with amoled displays.

It does it anytime, on any screen. Not just viewing images. It is most pronounced when viewing light colors, such as when browsing this forum. It looks like cross hatching.

Even if you turn the brightness all the way up?

I had some similar graphic distortion on my second nexus. I would take it to the store and compare the same screens and brightness levels just to be sure. My third Nexus is very nice.

On full brightness, it is only visible in mid-tone grays. Maybe I'll head on over to the Verizon store and compare.

I believe this is normal. But I've got no complaints. Even with it, the screen still blows away anything else I've ever seen.

I only see it when the screen is on the lowest brightness setting. Even when it's there, though, I don't mind it. It's just something to be aware of, but you'll forget about it soon enough if you let yourself.

just exchange it. Its not supposed to be tbat.way, trust me. We bought 2 gnex. Mine had banding, hers didnt. When compared.next to each other it was very noticeable. So take it back and get one with a good screen.

I've looked at several, and they all had it. *Very* subtle, but there. Others reporting distinct banding have something else going on, I think.

What I see is exactly as you describe... a super fine screening, visible only when the screen is very dim and only in the light colors. Frankly, it is so fine as to be invisible to my 40 year old eyes at normal viewing distance... no bother at all.

You've gone through 3 of these things? How?!

My first Nexus was constantly rebooting and overheating. My second had a display issue with colors (blacks were purple, etc). And my third has been good so far.

I bought it outright, I expect some perfection.

Understandable!
