Had used it for a few days and it was working great. Tried to update it to the latest firmware (when prompted) and now it won't turn on. Anyone know anyway of reseting it or getting it to turn on again? Thanks.

Try holding down the power button for 8 seconds (that's the reset action) and see if that helps.

Try with/without keyboard (if have) and with/without power connected.. Try all ways (if haven't)

I had this same problem, I had to disconnect the tablet from the keyboard and then hold down the volume buttons and then also hold the power button down and it did a hard reboot. (I assume) and it then booted backup.

Now I have this same problem.
Been trying hard resets with volume up key and power button, it only vibrates. It's as if the screen has no signal, as if its ribbon is disconnected or something.
I was just using it, maybe for a half hour or so, settings were normal, no high brightness or super ips, just using it casually, battery was over 70%. I left it for a few minutes, screen went off (as usual), but it never turned back on when I tried simply tapping /pressing the power button. That's when I started doing hard resets but it still doesn't want to display anything.
While in the dock or with only the power cord, the tablet's charging led comes on.
Tried hard resetting with power connected, without power connected, in the dock, out of the dock, in each and every way, the tablet only gives that short vibration for restarting but never shows the Asus splash screen and displays its booted up.
I'm letting it charge until I have green led and ill try again.
Any ideas?

whipped out my phone, started researching through other forums, people with the 300, the prime and the 101 have had this same problem.
I really thought I was doomed and had to send my 700 to Asus for a repair, however the tablet simply went into a coma, went into sleep, but wasn't able to wake up. I'm So Happy Right Now!!
Here are some tips to try if this ever happens to you.
1) in this situation , don't hard reset, simply turn the device on as usual, but press for a long time, about 30 sec, keep your finger pressed even after you hear/feel the vibration - THIS is the method that worked for me, I also did this when battery led was green, could also work in another state, not 100% sure.
2) to rule out if it's your screen, hook up your hdmi cable to a tv, and see if you have image signal sent to it, if you do, and not your screen, can definitely be a screen issue. If so, keep your tv connected and go through the steps to factory reset your device so that you can prep the tab to send out to Asus, they need it that way, and you want to protect your privacy.
3) forget trying to charge via power outlet. Hook your tab to a pc and have it plugged in for many hours via usb cable that came with tablet. This method is recommended when your tab will not want to take a charge via wall charger. USB gives less power input and thus may help the tab direct it to where it's needed to go.
4) our tablets have a physical reset button, in the event you tried everything, poke the hole between the sd card and hdmi out. This probably resets your tablet. If it turns on, you are most likely ok, just have to set everything back up again. If it doesn't help, at least your tab has been reset and is prepped to be sent out to Asus.
5) some say this can also happen from certain apps. New apps that have recently been downloaded, or apps we don't know/didn't know that could be causing problems.
I'll feel bad if anyone has to send out their tablets, or has to go through any of this as it is very inconvenient and sucks big time not having our tabs around. I recommend trying any/all of the above options before anything. If my post didn't help in some way, I recommend to keep searching and reading through other threads in other forums until you find something/someway that can help you. In my case it was a pretty easy fix, and hopefully no one else runs into any of these problems, but if you ever do, you know what to do.

Just bought a TF700T 2 weeks . Was running smoothly till yesterday. It was showing 10% battery and I plugged in for charging . Suddenly the tab swtiched off itself and never switched on again..Had been charging it for more than 10 hours now and still not on ..Also the charging indicator is also not showing any light while charging.........Please help me !!!!!!!~

I had this happen with my TF300T. Worked fine for about a month and a half, and then simply would not turn on. (Although in my case the 300 has never made ANY sound when turned on -- no vibrate or anything, unlike my TF201.) Same problem with the charge light on the power switch not showing it was receiving anything. I have a dock, and it was showing the green light but the tablet wasn't. I tried everything -- charge from the dock, charge directly to the tablet, charge via PC, long press power switch (12 secs and 30 secs and more), power + volume, reset button on side -- you name it. Gave up -- got an RMA from ASUS (they insisted on my sending in the charger, even though it successfully charges my TF201).
Long story short -- I didn't send it in. I was going to this weekend. But... fully two WEEKS or more into this coma, I did a "what-the-hell-let-me-try-charging-it-once-more" -- and the red low battery indicator came on. The orange "I'm charging" light came on. Two hours later, I tried turning it on (still charging) -- it was at 55%. Left it overnight, it was 100%. Works on or off the dock.

I am confused as to WHERE ARE THE ANSWERS to all these 'threads'?????? I know what the problems are, where are the replies? I can't start or even charge my tablet and everyone including you have the same dilemma but we get NO ANSWERS!! Why not??

Well not all problems get solved and unfortunately often the one with a problem does not report back how and if they solved it....
You may want to try the Transformer Forums or the TF700 forum on XDA. This one is not very active.
You can try:
Pressing the Power button for 30 seconds - what happens?
Trickle charging it by plugging it into the USB port on your PC. It won't even show that it's charging and it's very slow. You have to do it for at least 8 hours (and make sure your PC doesn't go into sleep mode)
Try a different wall charger.
Get an RMA from Asus and send it in...

Hi TF700T I had the same problem ,dead battery woul not charge, no light ,no vibrate. , plugged in all night to computer, no luck. Finally took power plug apart where it changes for different countries and cleaned connections. Away it went now fully charged ,tablet works as good as new.

Exact same problem. Multiple reboot attempts and pushing the reset button in the little hole. Vibrated and screen changed from dark to slightly less dark. Nothing else. Decided to try connecting HDMI to TV. Walked over to TV and plugged the micro HDMI end of cable into tablet, other end still dangling. Suddenly the tablets screen came on and all is working. Battery showed 100%. No explanation why this "worked".

My Asus TF700T would just shut off. Then it would only power up if plugged in. Eventually it was no longer charging the battery. Bought a new charger. That worked twice, then we had the same problem. RMA'ld both chargers, tablet, and dock. Asus was nice, quickly replaced both chargers, and parts in the tablet then returned them to me. 3-4 weeks later tablet just shut off and would not stay on unless plugged in. 2nd RMA on the tablet and the charger and Asus replaced more parts in the tablet plus the charger. Got Asus to pay shipping both ways by aksing for it and listing the first RMA on the problem description. Got the tablet back within two weeks. Excellent response. Tablet lasted 3 to 4 weeks then it shut down and only stayed on when plugged in. Argh. 3rd RMA is now in process. This time we sent in both chargers, tablet, and the dock again.
My suspicion is that at one year the batter is weak. If the OS sees the battery going down, it shuts off. Asus hasn't replaced the battery yet. It's complicated by Android's battery charged algorithm which changes over time. If this suspicion is true, and the battery only lasts one year on a device that initially cost over $400, well, I wouldn't keep buying them. Even if I'm wrong, having to RMA the device multiple times, or even once within the first year isn't right for even a $100 device. In all of my attempts the first thing I did was wipe all data. I've also tried enabling developer mode and cpu graphics. This last time I tried not wiping all the data but then some of my data was still on the tablet and erasing each app's data didn't eliminate it. So I've wiped it again.
The tablet was convenient for me. I used it along with my laptop and my desktop. It did email, held all my music, and let me quickly surf. Plus it drove my Yamaha receiver. I can't wait until it drives Google Chromcast and other devices. I just got the dock and typing was much easier with the dock. The only things I wouldn't try on it is image processing, code development, and video. I miss it. Hopefully Asus can figure out what is going on and fix it so it lasts.

I had similar issues with my tf701t. The screen would go black while I was using it and nothing would turn it on again. I sent it back to ASUS RMA twice with this problem. They fixed it both times ($25 shipping each time) but never told me what the problem was. It just happened again last night only one week after I got it back "fixed". Today after doing some more research I found that many people are having a problem with some sort of deep sleep mode so I assume that's what happened to mine as well. Unfortunately there is no sequence of buttons that will work to fix this. At least not in my case. I tried everything. As a last resort I opened the laptop (probably voiding the warranty) disconnected the battery and held down the power button for about a minute to totally discharge any left over power. When I plugged the battery back in everything was working properly again. To ensure this doesn't happen again I turned off all seep settings. With any luck I won't have to do this again.
This was a very easy fix but if you do this you need to know that you are probably voiding your warranty.
In my case I could tell the battery was charged based on the light on the power button. So before you start you may want to make sure your tablet is charged.

4. Carefully pry the screen away from the back with a small flat screwdriver in the docking recesses. Be gentle and then work your way around the tablet until the screen is separated from the back. Don't pull this very far apart there are some ribbon wires that connect the front to the back
5. You will notice a thin flat rectangle battery on the back side of the tablet. This has wires going to a connector that connects to a circuit board. Unplug this connector from the circuit board.
6. Hold down the power button for about a minute to ensure there is no power left in the laptop.
7. Plug the battery back in
8. Hold down the power button and your tablet should turn on regularly as long as your battery is charged.
9. Carefully snap the screen back in to place on the back and replace the tiny screws.
10. Turn off all sleep mode settings.
I hope this was helpful. Remember you will be voiding the warranty if you do this. It was the right choice for me because I was spending $25 each time I had to send it to ASUS to do this for me.

Mine's Working For Now... Re: TF700T now won't turn on.
I have RMA'd my TF700T three times. Only paid shipping twice. For the second and third RMA I was chatting with the Asus rep about the problem, (Tablet shuts off and appears not to charge), and they told me to mention that this was already returned for this issue. Asus then sent me a Fedex number which covered the return postage.
Its hard to help Asus find our issue when they do not tell us what has been replaced during an RMA. I asked while chatting and the sub assemblies mentioned didn't seem to me to be related to a battery, power, or charging issue. But the tabblet did work for a while when returned. I also noticed that for each return all of the battery chargers were replaced. This made me suspicious. Asus chargers have a high voltage output that quick charges the tablet. Hot plugging usb plugs, the ability to connect usb devices with power on, works by having the ground connection in the plug longer than the power pins. I thought maybe this was why we were having issues.
Since my last RMA, I have been attaching the charger to the tablet, then plugging the charger into the wall. Also when removing the charger I have been unplugging the charger from the wall before removing the charger from the tablet. I have been up and running from March to August!
My tablet is 1-1/2 years old and the battery appears to be holding up well. It doesn't last like a new one but it's ok. Charging issues are also compounded by the Android OS. Android learns the battery charge signature and adjusts the levels reported at 100% and 0% over time.
Overall I've been extremely happy with the TF700T and Asus Service. They have been very helpful and repaired the tablet under warranty each time. Plus they paid the shipping on the last two returns. I just wish they would insert a small piece of paper explaining their "fix" when they return the tablet. They appear to replace items based on a debugging procedure until the tablet works. I really can not fault them for a "repair" that lasts a month as that would take them a month of usage to debug.
