Putting consumer benefit and software utility above specs and industry habits was a good call for Moto. Those who called the Moto X 'innovative' were right, and that's just as true of the decisions they made to produce the phone as it is of the software/hardware features they built.
Something about the moto x with its very thought out awareness of the user made it something special. When I returned it for the note it felt cold and unintuitive. I was seriously considering selling the note 3 to get my hands on a 32g moto x. It is that good.
