that last update messed my v20 up

I don't know what to say because I don't have any of these issues after the updates. I've owned many different phones and this always seems to happen to some people after an update regardless of brand or model. .
Only the battery life has been affected but I want to watch it for a while to see how consistent it is. But I have noticed a difference.

I noticed a difference too. It gets from 100% to 50% much faster than usual. It also takes longer to charge to 100% now (on a fast charger). Twice as long. I can't tell if this is due to updates or if this is due to using batteries that have been charged a lot and the batteries are losing strength. I recently got a new battery and its been charged once but I have not used it. I may throw it in my phone tonight to see how that goes for slow charge down and fast charge up like it used to be.

I guess it's tuff for me to believe it's update related because these are just security patches unless they are lying to us.

Conspiracy theory: they installed an update that allows them to watch us.... Uses more battery

I don't know that I'd jump to any conspiracy theory, but there is no telling what they changed. They just lump it all into the "...and other improvements" section of the change log. I'm still peeved that Google replaced two useful features from the Chrome mobile app and snuck in a new spamming one under such pretence. At least with it I'm able to roll back to an earlier version by uninstalling updates. That is until the next OS update that is forced on me with the newer version of Chrome baked in and my browsing experience is degraded again.

Sorry for the ramble. XD

Day one of experiment. I used the phone normally which includes about 45 minutes of YouTube, texts, Andoid Central and Windows Central apps, Chrome web browsing and a few other little minor tasks and an occasional brief phone call. No photo taking yesterday but I did delete a lot of photos and video to make room on my 180gb memory card.(never thought I'd have to do that) Anyway I took the phone off the charger a little after 9AM using the display at 58% brightness. I usually hover around 35-40%. Oh and music playback in the car which totaled about 40 minutes using hifi DAC. I ended the day at around 12:20AM when my battery went from 6% to powering off. I got just over 4 hours SOT. So I'll continue to monitor to see what results I get.

This would be a yellow flag to me that the battery itself is starting to go bad, which will shorten usage time per charge in general.
Yeah but it should hardly be a bad battery after less than a year of use. Seems odd that the battery would deteriorate that rapidly BUT I'm willing to test that theory out eventually. I am getting another battery soon so we'll see.

Yea I have to charge my phone to to 4 times a day off I'm on the web. The update so trashed this phone. Like I said... Same exact thing with my V10.

I think the internet is the big killing factor!

My phone has been off charge since 4:30am. I had The DAC running for about an hour and with average use its at 60 percent now at 9am.

Not so sure. There are some wild inconsistencies I'm seeing. Today 3 hours of SOT with 70% battery left. Brightness is at 35%. Maybe that plays a huge roll in the battery life?

The only comparison I can make objectively is SOT streaming radio while posting on various forums. I used to get 5 hrs and 30 min to get to 10%.Now it is 5 hours exactly or a little under. I never go below 10%. At that point I change batteries. Same numbers with both batteries. I also notice the phone seems to run hotter. Occasionally I have to turn wifi off then on to keep getting data. It will show connected with data but turning it off then on dramatically speeds it up.

If you have developer mode enabled, can you check to see what processes are running?

Go figure. At 35% screen brightness I managed 6 hours and 45 minutes SOT with 8% left when I threw it on the charger. So I'm wondering if a mere 20 something decrease in screen brightness yielded an extra 2 hours and 45 minutes of use compared to the other day. And I actually did do quite a lot more today watching more YouTube videos compared to the other day. Web browsing, music via hifi DAC and everything. I also noticed also though Android OS did not eat up a ton of battery while Phone Idle remained in second place. A good day indeed.
