The 45w charger - (Yes or No?)

I know the 45w charges to a certain percentage faster than the 25w - but I have heard from multiple sources that the 45w charges to 100% in the same time as the 25w charger does also. Does anyone plan on shelling out the $$ for one of these? And will there be a wireless version also? I just don't see the point. If you're going to give us the option on a more powerful charger - at least make the charging time faster (overall) than a less powerful version.

For current size batteries in phones, this simply isn't possible due to the physical limitations of Li-ion batteries. You would need a battery about 8,000mAh to even begin to see an appreciable shortening of overall charging times between the two chargers. The below article goes into the nitty gritty of charging protocols, but this paragraph is the most salient point for this discussion.

Increasing the charge current does not hasten the full-charge state by much. Although the battery reaches the voltage peak quicker, the saturation charge will take longer accordingly. With higher current, Stage 1 is shorter but the saturation during Stage 2 will take longer. A high current charge will, however, quickly fill the battery to about 70 percent.

If you try to force the battery to charge quicker during the saturation phase, it'll go boom.

45W charger is unnecessary and only charges slightly faster (by a few minutes). It also adds stress to the battery. Samsung is packaging a 25w charger with the phone - for more than cost reasons.

I got it as pre order gift from the Note 10. Honestly it isn't worth it paying unless you get it as gift. It's not that much of a difference in charging time between that and 25W. I mostly use wireless charging anyways and have charging in car/office etc. So it charges 5-10 minutes faster? No big deal for me.

If you are someone who are in a scenario everyday that charging 5-15 minutes faster is important then pay for it otherwise not worth unless you get it from the pre order gift and don't have anything else to choose.

I just ordered one because of a sale where price was dropped ftom the usual 55 Euro to 37 Euro.
Originally when I got my Note 10 plus I had placed an order for one but ended up cancelling again because of the reviews.
Faster charging is only from 0-65% on the Note but it will also charge my chromebook so it will be a handy travel charger to have.

This is correct. The only other reason to buy it is if you need to buy a new home charger, then pay the extra to get this.

Agreed. I got this with my $150 promo money from the Note 10+ because it was part of the power bundle. It charged a few minutes faster than the 25 W charger...IF you're starting at a low charge. Not worth it if you're spending your own money though.

Got mine today and I like it, it's a bigger heavier brick than the 25W that comes with the phone but it feels quality to hold.
I let my Note 10 plus drop to 15% which was a challenge in itself but I put on location and high performance mode and upped screen brightness to help it along.
15% to 75% took just under 40 minutes.
I'll be getting the Samsung 25W powerbank as well at some stage.

It not really worth paying the 50-55 quid retail price for it but I payed 37 quid and it means I can leave my chromebook charger at home and just travel with one charger

No. I read that you only get actual 45W charging speed well below 50% battery charge. Above that, the charger progressively lowers it rate akin to the 25W charger. So unless you're running the battery really low, it's not worth it.

You got me there. 45W 51% @ 21 min 25W 40% @ 20 min 30 min gives you 71% vs 65% so yeah if you only have 30 min to charge and need that extra 6% then its worth it But i get it, time is money for some people. Even with the 50 bucks credit I will have after the Buds+ I'd rather use that money towards a fast wireless charger so I can have one at work and one at home.

It was a pretty cool video, he did it against a note 10+. Ultra was faster overall even with a bigger battery.
