Please do reply.

Seeing that I can run my business almost completely from my phone means my business can go anywhere. I could do just about the same with my BlackBerry, but it was more expensive doing so. I would have to switch carriers to use an iPhone, and I do a lot of multi-tasking which is something not completely available on iDevices.

Integration with Google Voice made it so I could drop my office line, saving $800+ a year. The number only rings during business hours and goes straight to voicemail after. I could use GV on my BlackBerry, but it wasn't as integrated.

Switching to Square for accepting credit cards saves me ~$40 a month, and lets me accept customer payments anywhere. I had to pay more in merchant fees to do the same with my BlackBerry.

Email, calendar, tasks, and contacts are all synced with Google, and all pretty much instant. If I schedule an appointment while meeting a client, my assistant can see it on my desktop right away. I don't have to connect to my computer like I did with the BB. I also don't have truncated emails like I did on BB.

Android on my smart phone keeps my business running anywhere, and saves me money while doing so.

Yes it makes a difference. App availability, price, functionality, and freedom to choose carriers and phones and primary functions within the platform (e.g. app markets, mp3 outlets, etc), general freedom to be a consumer are the main reasons.

Apple sucks for those specific reasons. Blackberry moved too slow and wasn't as easy to use. Windows phone came too late. Everything else is too small to consider.

First of all, I would like you to expand on your question. Are you asking why Android is relevant, what makes Android different than the others, or what makes Android good for smartphones?

As someone who uses it casually and for business, I use it for a lot of reasons. Casually, I chose it because of how flexible the OS is in general, from the simple fact that you don't have to pay for almost every single decent app to the fact that it syncs well with my email, contacts, and calendars. I am not saying that Android does this in a way that is so different from BB, WP7, or even Apple, I just prefer the way things are set up and done.

As a business owner I cannot stress how great using Gmail's calendar on my phone and computer. None of the other OS have integration that works as well as this. Also, being able to use Google Voice as a work line has saved me money, as well as being able to use Square on the go.

I don't think that there is a huge difference between all the OS, because they are all designed for us, the consumer. None of these are niche things that will only appeal to a limited crowd. Whatever your preference is, I hope you are happy with it. For now, Android is my preference, Android is my choice.
