The best E-Book reader app?

My thoughts is whichever one fits a person's preference.

I like the Nook and its app better because you can download books from many sources including my local public library and use them on it. Cannot do that on the Kindle unless you use a converter.

yea Nook us usa only. Unless you find the apk or use MarketEnabler to see it, you can download it and use it.

My one big beef with the nook app is the size. too large imo.

I didn't spot your reply earlier. US only? Oh, well, maybe I should move...:)

+1 for Aldiko here. Nook and Kindle are both very weak in customizations for fonts/colors for the reader view (compared to Aldiko), and Nook is an enormous file, for what they do. Of course if you have either a B&N or Amazon account, the simplicity of buying books for those readers is nice. Until recently I was using FBreader, which is similar to Aldiko, but the UI isn't quite as nice and polished, and it isn't quite as good at handling unusual formatting.

I currently have all 4 of these apps installed (I own both Amazon and B&N DRM'ed books, and use those apps only for the convenience of not removing the DRM), I use Aldiko for most of my reading of non-drm epubs I own (many) and FBreader for it's decent selection of free sci-fi in it's online book selection - I then move them to Aldiko to actually read them.

I've been using MobiPocket formatted ebooks for years, all the way back to carrying a Casio BE-300. Since the Kindle is based on the mobi format, it was an easy move to Kindle and its various apps. Most of the ebooks I have are in mobi or prc.

If I had more in the epub or pdb format, I would probably use the Nook or other ereader software instead.

yea

Nook is much better because of the UI experience makes it much more realistic and most preferable by the reader. Also the prices are cheaper than the kindle and thats a big one for me.

I'm liking Moon+ Reader Pro a lot. Great UI, a real file system book picker so you can organize your library in folders, and very customizable.

Doesn't directly support DRMed books, but there are DRM-stripping plugins for Calibre that let you actually own the books you buy and use any reader you want. Worth checking out.
