Re: The Bionic and VZW FAQ

You should add something about the Pentile Display. Tell them they should go look at a phone that has one already to get a good idea of what it will look like. Or just wait for the phone to get on display at a store and look at it. The Bionic's screen should look better though than the D3 or X2

Re: The Bionic and VZW FAQ

Verizon has dropped the retailers with which it had a contract and has signed up with Radio Shack.

I stopped into a Radio Shack outlet in downtown Cleveland OH this afternoon and asked if they would have Verizon phones on the floor sometime in the future. Instant reply was, "Yes, on September 15 [a Monday]". No further information was given.

I don't know if this date is tied in with the Bionic release date. But it will be nice to test the Bionic screen before making a decision. (I have no easy access to Verizon stores in the area; my disability puts them a little out of my accessibility spectrum).

Re: The Bionic and VZW FAQ

I would like to add something to Q#2 I learned last night from a CS rep. VZW has quietly rolled out a little clause regarding grandfathering your unlimited data in. If you find yourself wanting to return your current smartphone you upgraded to and you are within you 14 day window but the new phone you want isn't out yet (Bionic or something else) you have 14 days from the time you canceled your unlimited (grandfathered) data plan to get it back without penalty.

Now I will caution you on this, I am in this situation and I am sending back my recent smartphone, but always make sure you talk to a CSR to have things notated on your account just in case and you keep a watchful eye on the calendar.

So IF the Bionic is due out on 9/8/11 then if you returned your smartphone on after tomorrow you would be safe. But I never can trust Verizon to launch anything on time.

Re: The Bionic and VZW FAQ **Full Spec sheet added 8/31**

so much for it being a world phone. what a bust >.< The FCC released manual did say GSM capable on there.

AVRCP ver1.0 or ver1.3?

Question: I noticed that the Bionic contains Bluetooth AVRCP, but it doesn't specify a version. The reason that I'm interested is because my 2011 Mazda CX-9 supports Bluetooth audio and the manual differentiates between AVRCP 1.0 and 1.3.

The difference between the two is that 1.3 will display the text for the current song that's playing. Anyone know which version the Bionic has? Thanks!! :D

I wonder if LTE in America is different from LTE in different countries. I know Korea has 4G LTE and UTE out. If I can use this phone over there too then I'm sold.

I believe that the rest of the world uses LTE 700MHz where Verizon will be LTE 800MHz. I may be wrong so someone correct me if so.

I suspect not any time soon. This link kind of answers the question kind of well (even though it refers to only Europe).
Do the new Verizon LTE (4G) phones roam in Europe? if not when might they? - Quora

Basically, unless the LTE radio on the Bionic supports other frequency bands outside of 700mhz, then it won't work since Europe/Asia are planning on 800mhz (for the most part) which is not compatible. Not to mention current Verizon LTE phones are still using CDMA radios for voice, so you'll be dead in the water with that either way.

Any word on how it'll rule all machines, particularly tablets and laptops? I'm going to guess that other then HDMI out it won't do anything special, but using the phone as a remove with GoogleTV will be nifty.

Also, any word on if it'll have the NMEA data, so we can see satellites in view and all that other goodness?

it will be able to remotely access any PC you own and stream its data to the phone. The HDMI out is just a small part of the things this will be capable of

I looked for FM Radio but couldn't find it on this site. If you download the FM radio apk, the radio will work. A guy on another site installed it on his Bonic and it worked. He got a free Bonic by sending a complaint letter to Motorla.
If you want the FM Radio apk, this is the Dropbox link.
