Galaxy J7 Crown - The color on all my pictures are really messed up. Some photos look like black & white xrays. Others have weird colors like grass appears as some type of blue color or orange etc. I can't find a pattern, for example, not all photos with grass is blue, or all colors of houses is not white etc etc.

There hasn't been any recent updates as far as I know. The colors on the rest of the phone are perfect. Just the photos are messed up.

Any help is appreciated.

This in Samsung gallery?
Did you transfer any over ?

Welcome to Android Central! Do the photos only look like that on the phone, or also on other devices?

Understand but is it just pictures or everything?
Try safe mode .

It looks like it is just the photos. This is really weird. I connected my phone to my PC to look at the pictures and they all looked fine on my PC. No problems with the color.

So I took a new picture to see what's happening. The colors are reversed. The black items are appearing in white, and the white appears as black. All colors are off like that. Do cell phones have a setting that allows you to show the inverse colors? Maybe I pushed something by accident to cause this.

Also, I just checked to see if the colors are reversed when looking through the camera before taking a picture and they are. So I guess the camera in the phone is just broke.

You can check accessibility in settings , but also want you put phone in safe mode this turns off 3rd party apps that could be causing this .

I agree with mustang7757 -- test it in Safe Mode: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/devices/android/samsung-galaxy-j7/safe-mode-samsung-galaxy-j7 If the problem persists, then the camera sensor is probably faulty.

I booted in Safe Mode and all photos still have the colors reversed.

I checked the Accessibility option in Settings and found a Visibility Enhancements option and under that is a Negative Colors option that was turned on. I turned it off and I'll be darned if that didn't fix the problem. It also changed my background from a dark blue to white, but I can live with that.

Thanks mustang7757 and B. Diddy for your help with this. I had to check out how the camera sensor works in a cell phone (B. Diddy mentioned this). I could see how dropping a phone could damage the camera sensor, but I have never dropped or even bumped my phone. This led me to believe that it had to be a software/setting that was causing the problem, and it was.

Thanks again for the help!! I was getting ready to shop for a new phone and really don't feel like it.

Believe it or not, I went to Wikipedia to learn about the camera sensor and they used an image of the sensor from a Samsung Galaxy S5 camera to show you the parts. With luck like that, I think I will get some lottery tickets today.

Great, glad you figured it out! It's odd that the Visibility Enhancement would only show up when you're looking at the photo, though -- I would've thought it would affect the entire screen regardless of the activity.
